A tanker truck in East Lyme, Connecticut was hauling home heating oil when he crossed into oncoming traffic. The accident happened this last Friday. The tanker killed three people in a multivehicle accident and shut down a major highway

Witnesses said the tanker was northbound on Interstate 95 when the driver lost control and drove through the guardrail, over the median, and into southbound traffic.

The tanker jackknifed and landed on its side. When a home heating oil tanker wrecks, it has many dangers involved. The fire department immediately sprayed foam as a precaution and state environmental officials assessed the cleanup.

This interstate is the main artery that connects New York, Providence, Road Island, and Boston in the region. When a tanker truck is driving in this area with this much traffic their duty to safety raised because there is more chances of causing harm. All four lanes were closed for the rest of the night causing serious traffic problem.
