When my eight-month-old learned to crawl, I found out that my "baby-proofing" skills were not as honed as I had thought. My wife and I thought we had the everything covered, from the little annoying plastic things that go in the electrical outlets and make it impossible to plug in anything without tearing a fingernail, to barricades that make the walk from my kitchen to my bedroom resemble a journey through what one could only describe as a medieval labyrinth of tiny obstacles. However, our efforts were outmatched by the never-ending curiosity of a new member of our world.
There is an old saying that "Money in politics is like water on pavement, it finds every crack and crevice." In that spirit, I would say that babies, too, are like "water on pavement," when it comes to home safety, they find every crack and crevice.
